FIELD PREPARATION

In addition to packing, field preparation includes creating field notebooks and field maps, and examining field equipment. The FE Handbook appendices contain a detailed pack list for the 1998 field studies course. It can be found on the FE 450 web page. All students should understand how the equipment works before leaving for the field. All students should understand proper note taking technique. All students should understand the field maps. In short, packing for the field may be delegated to one or two students, but it is every student’s responsibility to be prepared for the field.
